Rainy Day Outfit Inspo

There are times in the year when the sun ceases to exist and clouds rally their forces and join sides to release a downpour of rain on our shores. Don’t let the lack of sunshine and warm rays this season ruin your vibe though – we have taken the liberty of concocting some of the sweetest styles for rainy weather this year so you can still rock your look on Umbrella Days.

First up is our Anya Long Sleeve Jersey top with tights and boots wrapped up underneath the Eloise Dungaree Dress. The look is simple but the layering adds elegance to the style and is sure to keep you wrapped up cosy and warm all day under your winter coat.

With Britain being renown for rainy days - 2 staple layering items that are perfect for mood-swing days are the; Maaike T-shirt with Alicia Mini Skirt and tights - great transitional piece into the spring weather.

The third outfit to bring a little sunshine to your style this month is the new Sura Frill Top with our always-in-style Jean Slim Cut Trousers and layered with a jumper and a calf-length coat on top.

Why not add some of our curated brand LilyFlo’s jewellery for a little extra glam?

Vega Bracelet
For those of you craving something a tad more daring – the Shan Long Sleeve Blouse and our Simone Chequered Print Wrap Skirt is super elegant and can be worn with brogues or boots and a coat to really add to the look.

Are you one to let the weather ruin your outfit? Want to channel your inner Nicole Richie? like our Instagram earlier this month, the Ruth Strap Dress is the perfect dress for a glam night out this weekend. Add a pair of heels, your favourite clutch and a red lippy that would make even T-Swift jealous and you might give Nicole Richie herself a run for her money.

Don’t forget to take a sheer umbrella with you and not even your brolly can hide your style!

Style - New Year New You - Back to work

New Year New You, right! that's the mantra we all have when January comes around, therefore; we have complied our guide to an ethical and a sustainable new year, starting with some styles that are easy to maintain ensuring you look super polished all year round, a new beginning starts here and now.

The ultra effortless Angelica polyester jersey top, is so easy to maintain, due to its resilient fibres. It does not stretch or shrink very easily and with the addition of elastane, makes this, a jersey top to throw on, for that casual meet and greet. Wear this top with Madia & Matilda's Alisha trouser and Orion Rose necklace (from our curated brand Lily Flo) to finish this look.

Subtle sophistication, wear our best selling Greta Blouse with Madia & Matilda's staple trouser - Alex. When it is time to kick back and relax, we have a new range of scented candles hand crafted from Lola's Apothecary with natural plants, Soy, Vanila, Ylang Ylang and Lavender.

Whether you are dressing for success for work or looking for a sustainable classic for that interview, our Carrie blouse, works well with Madia & Matilda's Ellen trouser, glasses & to add an extra touch of glimmer this necklace. From our curated brand Mara Zia necklace

Lea blouse, feminine, pretty lace frills in a chiffon blouse with a deep v; as seen worn with our Aria skirt. Accessorise with our curated brand necklace & round rimmed glasses from Keepwood a acetate wood-grain prescription eyeglass Frames, hand crafted high quality eyewear that is sustainable and natural. Eliminating the burden of waste that cheap plastic eyewear creates, as each pair of Keepwood Eyewear sold, is a donation to Trees for the Future which allows them to plant 50 trees in one of their worldwide projects.

All of these styles and more are available in our workwear selection here

Countdown to Christmas - Day 11 - Style A day

Joselle Nguyen - Business Administrator at Madia and Matilda

Joselle is an intern business administration at M & M and for the 12 days - countdown to Christmas is inspired by real girls and aspiration women, we asked Joselle to join in.

Here is Joselle's views on ethical and sustainable fashion:

The miracle of Madia & Matilda is that every little pieces of fabrics counted, I can see a tiny piece of material finds its place in a wonderful dress. Today's inspiration comes from those stories.

For the day look, an elegant Riene top with a playful Simone Chequered Print Wrap Skirt would be my choices.

For a minimalist night look, why not Julia Metallic Sheer Dress paired with stilettos and a coat (or tights and heeled boots for those nights it is slightly chiller!)?

However, for something a little more risky, yet still completely elegant, I would choose a Violet Velvet Panel Dress?

Countdown to Christmas - Day 9 - Style A Day

Natalie Kay Smith – Responsible Fashion Blogger:

For today’s style steal, we thought we would focus on +Natalie Smith from Sustainably Chic a sustainable fashion blogger that is living proof that Fashion Can Exist Responsibly. Over the years we have got to know Natalie and her zest for fashion.

Here, are our favourite day time looks for Natalie; Natasha Jersey Top or the Eloise-Dungaree-Dress, as Natalie loves a day dress or a jersey top.

As Natalie is not one to worry about trying something a little different, we have selected with our Kalani silk-lined jacket and Fahra Velvet Dress;

For New Years eve, Mary A-Line Skater Dress, is Natalie down to a 't' and is now available in Sale

It’s simple style and beauty can be dressed up with a good ethically produced coat and heels, or dressed down in a simple cardi and boots. It’s all up to you, but whatever you choose, make sure you put your own spin on it with a conscious outlook – you could be someone else’s ethical style inspiration

Countdown to Christmas - Day 5 - Style A Day

Shelley Morecroft – Petite Fashion blogger:

Friend of M & M and long term Photographer Shelley Anne Morecroft, is today's style inspiration! Due to her recent blog startup, the well recieved Shelley Morecroft: A Petite Fashion BlogShelley’s exclusive style does not follow the rules; a style that says, I have arrived! "she once told us that fashion is not suppose to be boring, so she dress with conscious intent everyday."  She tends to favour more classic looks in her style but adds a touch of on-trend twists.

You too, can indeed look smokin’ this season styles and to recreate Shelley’s distinctive look, try our Poppy jumpsuit or Elise Linen Top with the Lilly Pleated Skirt and lace up boots. Stack up the rings, and several simplistic necklaces - and maybe even a choker - for that classic rock star look.

Countdown to Christmas - Day 4 - Style a Day

Emma Watson – Actress/sustainable fashion advocate:

Following the release of the latest film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them that is currently taking the Wizarding World by storm, we thought we’d cast our minds back to the original Queen B of the world of Harry Potter.

Emma Watson is not only a renowned actress in top films such as the Harry Potter saga but has also starred in releases like The Perks of Being a Wallflower and spends her spare time advocating for Human Rights – particularly Women’s.

We at Madia & Matilda think that makes her a superhero in her own right, but particularly when it comes to her style. Emma has her own look, taking inspiration from the latest trends as well as her own passions. In 2010 she worked closely alongside People Tree, a sustainable brand like us, to create her own line and continued creating clothing for the company until late 2012.

Dress her look in our very own Dakota knitted tank top and Ellen Cigarette Leg Trousers or for a more adventurous night wear look, try our Bella Halter Neck Jumpsuit or Amber Lace Top and Evelin Mini Skirt.
